Last week I was supposed to go to Kauai. Our family was packed and ready to go, when my wife got sick. We cancelled the trip at the last minute, everyone disappointed, but also relieved to rest.
The next day, a friend called me telling me that Del Mar looked like the Maldives! I took the day to shoot along the coast of North County. I was in awe of the color of the ocean that surrounded the coast on that clear, 80 degree winter day.
Here are two new shots I captured last week. We named it Solana Swells and Water Matrix. I’d love to know your thoughts…

Solana Swells, photographed in South Solana Beach. The sky meets the deep blue ocean that fades to turquoise as the waves roll in on an 80 degree Santa Ana winter day.

Water Matrix – This action photo freezes a moment in time where the splashing water of a small shore break wave reminds me of our interconnectivity. This image was shot in Carlsbad.

Morning in Del Mar – The deep blue water laps at the seawall in Del Mar during a high tide on a classic Southern California winter day.
